How do I create new categories?

Go to the topic index page: https://your talkyard site/, then click View categories,
then click Create category, to the right (just to the left of the Ask a Question button).

You need to be logged in as admin.

If you initially created a blog comments Talkyard site, then, to see the Create Category button, you first need to enable discussion forum features. (They're disabled by default, for blog comments sites, so as not to confuse people.) You do that by going here: https://your talkyard site/-/admin/settings/features and ticking the Enable discussion forum checkbox. (Once you've enabled forum features, you cannot disable them — but doesn't really matter: nothing really happens, except for more admin buttons becoming visible.)
